Special Conditions for Hat Art Entries

Entry Submission/Return (Transport of Entry form)

All packaging and transportation costs of hat art entries are the responsibility of the entrant. Entrants must pay freight costs both ways, and supply instructions on the Hat Art Transport of Entry form.
 
Hat Art entries must be delivered to:

no later than Friday 6th November 2009. Late entries will not be accepted.

Hat Art entries must be submitted in a suitable case or box with the Transport of Entry form.
Boxes must have a return address clearly marked.

A sketch, photographs, DVD or instructions on how the hat is to be worn and how to put it on MUST be included.

Hat Art Entry Construction Requirements

When designing your work remember it will be exhibited in a fully choreographed performance, therefore ensure:

  • hat is of sound construction. 
  • hat is fitted and well balanced. A strap under chin may be appropriate. 
  • hat is safe to wear with no sharp edges.
  • hat is not excessively heavy. Model's must be able to safely wear hats without possible injury.
  • ensure your hat can safely negotiate 45degree ramps to enter and exit the catwalk. No hat to exceed 1.5metres in height or width. 
  • hot glue, staples, or tape are not relied on to hold materials together. 
  • straps or lacing of garment must withstand quick changes. (Suggest elastic or Velcro). 
  • no perishable materials are used. 
  • there is a fabric label on the inside of your entry, which includes your name, address, section entered and the title of the Hat Art entry.

Hat Retention

The Timaru Festival of Roses Trust reserves the right to retain hats for a period of 12 months following the Awards to be used in activities that relate to the promotion of the NZ Hat and Hair Art Awards and the Festival of Roses. The Timaru Festival of Roses Trust reserves the right to have first option to purchase any entry for inclusion in the Timaru Festival of Roses collection.
